To ward off the winter doldrums and celebrate the coming of Spring we are counting down the number of days until Spring. Emily helped me cut out two flowers and 32 flower petals (one for each day). We mounted the flowers on a large piece of poster board and stored the flower petals in a container.
Each morning the kids can pick a flower petal and add it to one of the flowers.
I have written little things on each petal such as:
- Plant some flower seeds
- Plant some lettuce
- Make up a Spring song
- Go for a walk
- Look for signs of Spring
- Make a card for one of our neighbors
- Paint a picture of something that reminds you of Spring
- Blow some bubbles
- Paint a flower pot
- Write a poem about Spring
- Put out nesting materials for the birds and squirrels
