I made some apple pie play dough for the kids to play with this week. It smells so good!
What You Will Need:
- 1 cup of flour
- 1/2 cup of salt
- 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil
- 1 tablespoon of cream of tarter
- 1/2 teaspoon of cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon of nutmeg
- 1/4 teaspoon of allspice
- 1/2 cup of water
- 1/2 cup of apple juice
- red food coloring (add until you get desired color)
What You Will Do:
- Mix all the ingredients together in a large sauce pan.
- Place on medium high heat on the stove
- Stir frequently until the dough starts pulling away from the sides of the pan.
- Remove from the stove.
- Once the dough has cooled enough to handle knead the dough.
- Place it in an airtight container.
I love homemade play dough! It’s so easy to make and you can make so many different scents. Best of all it keeps the kids occupied! The kids have been having fun making little miniature apple pies with the play dough.

Mmmmm, That looks awesome!
Cindy, this will be a wonderful addition to our learning fun when we get to "How to make an apple pie and see the world!" So colorful and I can imagine that it smells so good. Thank you so much for sharing! =)
we really need to make this!!!
Oh funny - we made the same thing a few days ago! Tis the season! :)
I found your blog from Delightful Learning, and I'm glad that I did! You have so many nice activities and I'm looking forward to reading what you'll do next.
We made apple pie themed dough the other day too. I love the way it smells and looks.

must try this when I get back from the beach!!
Love this idea and I am featuring you on our blog on Monday. Thanks for the great idea.
Love the idea behind this. Have one question though - how long does it last? Since it has apple juice in it, I didn't know if it would make the play dough 'go bad'.
We have been playing with our apple pie play dough for 3 weeks and it is still good. Maybe the apple juice ferments it? If I want our play dough to last awhile I stick it in the fridge.
I featured this today on a green craft round-up here: http://www.examiner.com/green-culture-in-mankato/green-craft-round-up-north-woods-ornaments-wine-cork-trivets-and-more
Thanks for the great project. :)
This looks great, thank you~ Will definitely try it and link you in at TheUnpluggedFamily.com :) Blessings.
