I love my little man, he is so full of life and energetic! As soon as his feet hit the floor in the morning he is on the go ~ running, jumping, climbing, being a typical little boy!
I have been trying to come up with ideas to teach him to control some of that energy and focus during our play time.
I placed some of Aiden’s blue, red, yellow and green matchbox cars in a basket on our coffee table. I used card stock, in the same colors as the cars, which we used as “parking lots” for the cars.
The object was for Aiden to roll the cars SLOWLY across the table, onto the correct colored parking lot. Sound easy? Not for a little boy who usually rolls his cars across the floor as fast as he can, just to see them SLAM into the wall.
The first couple of times he rolled the cars he sent them flying off the table, onto the floor.
After a few times he got the hang of it and was able to get the cars on the paper.
Of course when we were finished playing he decided it would be fun to crash the car in to each other, sending them flying off the table. Have I said how much I love my busy little guy!

Great idea! Looks like he enjoyed it. =) This could be adapted in so many ways...numbered parking spots, shape parking spots, letter parking spots, etc. Draw a card out of a bag and park you car in the matching spot.
This is a neat idea! And of course the cars have to fly off the papers at the end!
Lemme just say, your boy and my Little Wild Man would have a a BALL together! We should get together for a play date sometime...ya know, the next time you are strolling through East Tennessee....
What a great and easy idea! My guy also loves cars and has LOTS of energy that needs to be harnessed in non-destructive ways. I bet my guy would love this activity!!
You should have let me know you were writing about Sammy ;-)
I love this idea. I just subscribed to your blog - looking forward to getting some more great ideas for my little guy.
