My Dad had Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma 10 years ago. We all sang praises when he was cured! Although cancer is never good, one positive thing came out of it, an even closer relationship with my Dad. I have always been close to my Dad, but since then I never leave without a hug and I love you! Even when Dad was going through chemotherapy, I don't remember seeing him sick.
All of this changed on Friday morning! I called my parents and chatted with Dad for a few minutes. As he was handing the phone to Mom, I heard him say "Don't tell her!" Mom informed me that Dad woke up at 4:00 am with a numb arm (of course he didn't tell mom until around 8:00 am). When I called they were getting ready to go to the emergency room. Dad is still in the hospital having numerous test run. The doctors have determined that he had a stroke, which could have happened 6 months ago. (Thank you God, that his arm is getting better!) Further blood test show that he has a blood clot or blood clots somewhere. This has been the scariest thing I have gone through with my parents because this is the first time I see that Dad is not invincible! Dad is suppose to have more test run tomorrow and then hopefully he can come home.
I pray that he will be ok. I hate to think about my parents (or myself) aging, but it's happening.
